» Sharm El Sheik: The coastline attracts tourists ranging from top-class package deals, to backpackers in campsites: Sharm el-Sheikh is a large resort, and is best for diving.A great example of modern engineering, the Suez Canal links the Red Sea with the Mediterranean.

el-Sheikh is in the heat of the summer (July and August) when air temperatures can reach between 40-50 degrees Celsius, it is very dry, there is no humidity, and the best place is underwater, on a boat trip, or relaxing in your resort. Prices for diving are based on US$, as is all the resorts.

Sharm el-Sheikh local restaurants take local Egyptian pounds LE and all major hotels take credit cards. There are no local ATMS, so take cash or travelers cheques. Non-divers can join the boat trips, which include a mask, fins, and snorkel. Divers pay around $US50 a day for two dives (you must rent equipment); a five-day package is cheaper and the cost of equipment is cheaper, too.
